Something I hear way too often and almost daily is this common phrase of "I just don't have the time".
PLEASE...... Don’t tell me you’re too busy to help out a local organization and then talk to me for 5 hours about your favorite TV show I need to watch.
PLEASE...... Don’t tell me you’re too busy to read a book and then give me intricate in depth details of your favorite sports team.
PLEASE...... Don’t tell me you’re too busy to update your resume to get a raise and then update your social media accounts non-stop throughout the day.
Trust me, I totally understand that we are busy people. Time seems to go by faster each day and our days get thin and tired. Sometimes our schedules are truly full and we have many things planned.
How is it though that somehow we always find a way to give our time to a variety of multiple and sometimes useless distractions.
This is the reason that the average American watches at least 35 hours of television throughout a week according to multiple studies.
This is also the reason that the average 21-year-old has already played at least 10,000 hours of video games throughout their life.
Do you know that if the average American spent as much time reading books as they do scrolling through social media, they would read approximately 200 books a year. The average American spends 608 hours on social media and about 1642 hours on TV. (Total = 2250 hours)
The more I think about time, the more it seems to be a very weird thing. Time seems to only go where you want it to go. It doesn't do what it wants, it is simply something that we get to use. It unfortunately doesn't seem to go towards things that matter or to things that you actually really care about. Time seems that it always looks for the easy way out and how to do the least amount of work. The biggest reason for that is due to the fact that an average human doesn't like to work.
As the spring has started and summer is approaching I want to challenge you to rescue some of your time. You don't even have to start with giving up all your spare time. You can start with just 20 minutes and keep growing from there. No matter how hectic your schedule may look you have 20 minutes hidden somewhere in your day that you can give.
I dare you to find that small amount of time each day and see how much you grow in these next few months. As you begin to use your time wisely, you will start to see yourself grow in your personal life, your business, and your productivity. That first 20 minutes will grow into 30 and then 45 and then 60. Soon you will be getting closer and closer to your dreams, goals and visions that you have for your life but you need to give the time.
I know that I struggle often with giving up time for a productive cause, a good basketball game comes on and before you know it I just wasted 3 hours of my day gone to a game that gave me some kind of short term amusement.
So instead, I’m going to find time to push towards my goals and dreams that I have set for my life.
Since time can't and won’t find you. It is your job to have to find it and use it wisely.
Have you ever had a huge dream? A dream that maybe you thought was too big to ever come true? Better yet maybe a dream so big no one else believed in it either.
I just started watching this show Once Upon A Time thanks to Netflix and countless people telling me I would like it. In this show this little kid believes that everyone in this town is actually storybook characters’ but they have all forgotten who they are. Obviously when he tells them this they don’t believe him simply because his dream is too big. At this moment his dream and passion has failed.
When you have tried your dream and failed you have two different choices: Keep trying or give up. To keep trying right after a defeat is a task very few people will ever go after. Very few people can hang in there when life gets challenging for them.
Now that I’m trying to start blogging along with other things to help encourage and grow people…. It has not been easy. Not many people may read my blogs, watch my videos, help are charity events, or listen to me speak but it is a big dream. I do my best to create great content and find that not everyone shares it on social media but it is a big dream. 5 months ago when I started this every day has been difficult to get through and each day has presented an easier choice of something to do, just quit.
What if I quit my dream and passion though? How many people would not be encouraged? Even if it’s just one life changed! What if you quit your dream? What impact would you have? Would you let down yourself?
While there’s still more room for me to grow and get better by each day of me not giving up I am growing. Each day you don’t quit you keep growing!
I want to share with you some qualities of people who will never quit on their dreams so that you may adopt them into your own life to keep your dreams going!
1. “No” is never an answer
Do not let peoples answers, ideas, or opinions end what you believe is possible! The only person who should have a final answer to your own dreams is you! So NO matter what anybody else says, believe in yourself.
I always use a no from someone as fuel to make them want to someday say, “Yes I was wrong”. So no matter what is said by others always say yes to yourself and your dreams. Even a no, is not permanent; it is just a temporary answer until you get them to someday say yes.
2. See every rock as a steppingstone
It at times will feel like you’re stumbling over many rocks, but every rock is a steppingstone to get closer to your destination. Michael Jordan missed many shots but even he will tell you it made him a better player. Once you learn everything that makes you miss you learn how to make each shot.
Think of each obstacle you endure as preparation for what is next to come. Each obstacle is a way for you to improve and become better. The people who see each challenge as a way to get closer to success are people who will never quit.
3. See “Dead Ends” as a time for creative solutions
When obstacles prepare you for something to come there are also times where you hit dead ends. When you hit what you think is a dead end though there is something you can learn out of it. You find the problem and find a creative way to fix and improve it. You need to see how you can improve and then how you can make it work into your favor!
4. Look to come back better
People who don’t quit know that the further back they fall or the worse off they are, the higher up they’ll be able to go next time. Whenever you fall behind or fail, you’ll gain a huge learning experience and an understanding of what didn’t work. The more insight you gain from failure, the quicker and faster you’ll move forward. Move On.
5. Know that success comes after failure
The most successful people in the world are the people who have failed the most. Babe Ruth had many strikeouts and Michael Jordan missed some big time shots. The authors who were rejected became best-selling authors. Yet they all say there success came from their failures. Inventors who failed 100s of times created electricity and cars.
The products that failed led to creative products. Failure is the breeding ground for success.
6. Learn, improve and try again
Those who never decide to quit will learn from their mistakes and get insights from their failure. They move forward in life with the lessons they have learned. They make adjustments to improve in what they do. Every time they try and fail, they learn and improve.
They don’t let temporary obstacles become permanent walls. They keep moving forward.
NEVER GIVE UP : NEVER STOP BELIEVING : NEVER STOP FIGHTING
Frustration to your destination
Just the other day I was walking through a college campus and saw a trashcan overflowing with garbage on the school property. I was frustrated thinking that no one working there cared to change it! I could also tell you about the time I had a business say they were going to call me at a certain time and called me 4 days late! I now know that providing people with the best experience is something that really gets on my nerves when I don’t see that followed through.
So often I find myself frustrated by some of the littlest things that some people don't even see as a problem! It doesn’t make me anything special or any better then anyone else though. Its just that’s what frustrates me more then others. Have you ever found yourself frustrated in ways that other people don’t understand?
I am now convinced that: Your frustration is a rough situation that will give you an indication to your future destination. That might sound like a tongue twister but there is a lot of truth behind this statement and I will try to break it down for you the best I can.
Your frustration is a rough situation:
I understand that being frustrated is not fun in any way possible. To make it even worse it happens almost daily. Whether it is with a significant other, a passion for something you do, something you tried so hard for, and many more reasons. The point is we go through frustration daily!
The reason why we get frustrated if you think about it is usually because we want something. We want to have a better grade, more affection, better promotion, better reputation, and another chance. It sort of sounds like greed sometimes when you think about why we get frustrated at times. For me with the story in the beginning I wanted a better experience so I got frustrated. My want became an unnecessary need, which led to a horrible time of frustration.
Don’t get me wrong though being frustrated at times isn’t a bad thing and obviously also very common. Through frustration there is also so much you can learn and so much opportunity to grow as an individual. Through every frustrating time in my life I have always grown and have always come out better then before I have started.
Always keep on the mindset that this frustration is a season and focus on all the great things around you. Why let some silly situations distract you from a bigger picture of life. I am a strong believer though that the frustration is just an indication of what is to come ahead from this situation.
That will give you an indication to your future destination:
When I am talking about here is that through this frustration you should learn something about yourself that will help you improve after the frustration ends. Something I hate is when someone either 1. Goes through something or 2. Has so much to say but no matter which one it is never finds a way to grow through the problem. Through frustration there is so much room to grow and it is crazy that you wouldn’t take the chance to do that!
For example through my frustration at the school I now know that maybe I would be good at customer service. I know that next time maybe I can just take the trash out and be an example. I could also realize that not everything is going to be how I like it done all the time.
Through that frustration though I now have an indication and a piece on how to improve myself to determine where I go to in the future of my life. So use that frustration to help show you where to improve and what you will be good at! Don’t go through life frustrated yet try to find a way to improve yourself and everything around you.
To defeat frustration you have to be focused on the outcome instead of the obstacles. Don’t just come up with complaints yet just try to find solutions on how to make things better and do them. Be a change and be a difference to everything around you because no matter what you are going through… ITS NOT OVER
